A Baltimore native, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and former operations manager of her family’s business, Watson’s Fireplace and Patio, Mary Jo has an intimate understanding of business operations. As founder and president of Balancing Act, an accounting and QuickBooks training firm, she combines her valuable perspectives as a small business owner/operator to help her clients succeed.

Mary Jo acts as the “Operational Accountant”. An Operations Accountant collaborates with business owners and managers to bring the seemingly fragmented accounting and business operations pieces together to form a clear path—one that will proactively lead their business to a profitable future. Mary Jo's Education & Career Background

Mary Jo obtained her formal education from Towson State University, and earned her CPA license in 1984. Combined with her experience at Arthur Andersen & Company and her work in the healthcare, software and management consulting industries all under her belt, Mary Jo launched her own firm in 2005. Accounting Solutions offered Baltimore businesses accounting consulting services that included senior assistance, QuickBooks training and custom reporting. As a certified public accountant, Mary Jo also prepared individual tax returns. In 2012, Mary Jo renamed the company Balancing Act to better reflect the benefit her services can provide to small business owners who are juggling more balls than they can effectively handle on their own. Balancing Act is located in Towson, Maryland, and serves clients in and around Towson, Timonium, Lutherville, Cockeysville and Hunt Valley, as well as all of Baltimore County and Baltimore City.
